24 May 08 MicroManaged Media, Inc. Launches New Small Business Plan

Small Businesses Search Engine Marketing

This site ask a great question for you small business owners: Does a web sit exist if no one sees it?

You contract with a web design company to build a dentist web site and it looks great. How you wait for the phone to wring and nothing happens. You type in the url and the site is still there but evidentily no one else is seeing it. So what good is it.

MicroManaged Media, Inc. is the brain child of Bob Rutledge, internet enterepreneur. His goal is to help small business people market their service or product in a cost effective way. “Yellow Page ads are way past their prime. You parents may still use them to look up “air conditioning repair in Marietta, GA“, but no one else does. In fact, there should be a law against companies cutting down all those trees to make phoine books that imediately wind up in the trash can. I haven’t had a “Yellow Page” phone book in my house for a decade” says the entrepreneur.

GET GREEN: Drop the Yellow Pages Ads in Favor of a Web Site for Small Business

Over 80% of Americans use Google or MSN or Yahoo search to quickly find a product, service or location of a dentist or sub shop or auto repair these days. 99% of all the things people tout as “saving the planet” are bogus feel good remedies. However, a web site that is search engine friendly is a real solution. One that prevents a waste of real resources that matter. both the environment and capital are preserved.

Bob tells small business people that there are two very important things to consider when purchasing a web for your business:

  1. The part you see is very important. It should be clear of clutter, getting your message over in a split second, and and easy to navigate and easy on the eyes.
  2. The part of a web site you don’t see (or notice) is even more important. These “off site” factors are often the key to getting a web site ranked in the top two or three for search terms your prospective clients are using to look for you.

SEM Means Profits for Your Business

When a web site is designed with both the reader and the search engines in mind you will get highly qualified traffic to the site. These folks have there money or credit cards in hand and are ready to make a purchase. I final cost of acquiring a new customer through a web site is pennies compared to the tens of dollars per new customer radio, tv newspaper and yellow pages will cost. The problem is you can’t hold or see the “under the hood” of a web site, so you don’t really know what you are buying.

“I know your pain,” says Bob. “I have spent $30,000 a month on things like “pay per click” ads and thousands a month on radio. I was never a big fan of yellow pages, but I did the “coupons that come in the mail” thing. I got into web design and search engine marketing to promote my own products. I just did not feel like I was getting my money’s worth when I subbed it out at first. I couldn’t see under the hood and I felt I was being over charged.

Thats why my new firm does not sell “web site design”. Instead, we design sites with future clients in mind, drive them to the top of the search engines and lease the site to clients that can benefit from the traffic from the first day. Its like buying or leasing a property that has a big highway with lots of traffic already going by. The way web sites are sold now is like buying a piece of property in the middle of the forest and hoping that the highway will one day be built in front of it.”
